Sports Massage

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a deep tissue massage designed to eliminate potential muscular dysfunctions. It works deep in the muscles, realigning the muscle fibres and connective tissue, while flushing away any toxins. It is a more dynamic form of massage compared to a remedial massage. Regular sessions will increase joint mobility and flexibility, and reduce the risk of injury during exercise.Rest assured that our sports massage is not just for the professional athlete. Our clients range from hairstylists and bricklayers, to taxi drivers and office workers. Anybody can benefit from a sports massage to relieve the everyday aches and pains caused by poor posture or repetitive strain.

Frequently asked questions

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please contact us.

What can I expect on my first session?

We will start with a full consultation, including your personal details, lifestyle, any allergies and your general health. This way we can work together to help determine the cause of any muscular dysfunctions you may have and treat accordingly. This will take approximately 15 minutes.

I don’t play regular sport – can I still have a sports massage?

Of course. Sports massage is not just for competing athletes. Everyday aches and pains caused by poor posture or repetitive strain from your occupation can be eliminated by sports massage. Sports massage can have a positive impact on your lifestyle as well as increasing energy levels.

Does a sports massage hurt?

Yes and no! Pain suggests that treatments are designed to make you wince. This is not the case. If there is a particular problematic area that requires some deep tissue work, then yes, there may be an element of discomfort associated with treating that area. If the discomfort becomes too much we can ease off or try a different technique. Our approach is not to make the massage hurt just for the sake of urban myth, but to ensure goals are achieved with each session.

What do I wear?

You will always be covered by towels or sheets, with only the body part being worked on exposed, so sensible clothing and comfortable underwear is ideal. If you prefer to wear shorts/sports clothing then ensure they are loose fitting. Female clients, if you are having back treatment please refrain from wearing a sports bra. A regular bra with a strap allows better access to the entire back for a more complete massage.

Will you visit me at home?

Home visits are available depending on your location and distance from our Rework therapy room. A fee for home visits may be charged on top of treatment to cover fuel and time. Please contact me for pricing. There will be no extra fee within a 1 mile radius of Sutton station.

Do you offer discount for packages?

Yes. 3 x 60 minute sessions for £120 (£30 saving). This must be booked and paid for in full on your first session.

Is there a late cancellation/no show charge?

Yes. Where possible I ask for at least 24 hours notice on any cancellation. Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment without informing me will be considered a no show. They will be charged the full amount for their missed appointment, and future service will be denied until payment is made. All cancellations or no show charges will be at the discretion of the therapist.
